Climate change and environmental protection are the focus of attention in the world today. Reducing fossil energy consumption and increasing the proportion of renewable energy in the energy structure have become an important part of the world's energy development strategies. In this context, photovoltaic power generation has gradually played an increasingly important role in the new round of energy transformation because of its clean, safe and abundant resources.
In the short five years since 2013, the total installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation in the world has increased by 1.8 times, and the cumulative installed capacity has increased from 140GW to more than 500GW, which is 3.5 times more than that of five years ago. Since the end of 2013, the average initial investment cost of photovoltaic power generation projects has dropped by more than 55%. Photovoltaic power generation has become the most economical form of energy in many countries and regions around the world, and is still in the range of rapid cost reduction.
In China, after the implementation of the "Renewable Energy Law" for 13 years, China's photovoltaic industry has made great progress. In the past 13 years, the global share of China's polysilicon production has increased from 0.3% to 58.1%. Meanwhile, the global share of PV module production has increased from 11% to 72.8%, and it has ranked first in the world for 12 consecutive years. The proportion of newly installed capacity increased from 0.36% to over 40%, and ranked first for six consecutive years. The global share of cumulative PV installed capacity increased from 1.35% to over 30%, ranking first for four consecutive years.
According to the statistics, photovoltaic modules produced by Chinese PV companies accounted for 75% of the global installed capacity in 2018, making an indelible contribution in effectively promoting global PV industry innovation and rapid cost reduction. From the perspective of global PV supply pattern, polysilicon, silicon wafers, components and inverters produced in mainland China in 2018 accounted for 58.1%, 93.1%, 74.8%, 72.8%, and 62% respectively. Among polysilicon, silicon wafers, components, inverters industries, more than 30 Chinese companies have ranked as the world-class enterprises, and have a comprehensive leading edge in the global photovoltaic market. China's photovoltaic industry has formed the world's most complete industrial chain including high-purity silicon materials, silicon ingots, silicon wafers, and silicon wafer dressings.
